Lead Website Developer
Bring your custom WordPress expertise to a role where your technical leadership directly shapes our brand’s digital future. Miles IT is searching for a Lead Website Developer to inspire our web team, drive code quality, and elevate our entire internal web ecosystem. You’ll balance hands-on custom PHP, JavaScript, and block development with the rewarding challenge of coaching mid-level developers and streamlining our delivery pipelines.

RESPONSIBILITIES
- Lead the web development team — run daily/weekly stand-ups and team meetings, assign and prioritize work across developers, unblock the team, and take ownership of delivery timelines and quality across all active projects.
- Own code quality and standards — review team members’ code, enforce standards for WordPress/HTML/CSS/PHP/JavaScript, and make technical and architecture decisions (site structure, plugin choices, performance approach, Git workflow).
- Mentor and develop the team — coach junior and mid-level developers, give feedback, and raise the technical bar of the group over time.
- Serve as the primary technical point of contact in cross-team meetings with design, content, marketing technology, and project management — this is where excellent spoken English is essential.
- Oversee development updates and troubleshooting on supported internal sites (WP Engine / WordPress / plugin / PHP version upgrades, performance and site-speed improvements).
- Provide input on hiring, onboarding, and capacity planning for the development team; support landing-page and marketing-asset builds across WordPress, HubSpot.
- In addition to your technical and leadership skills, you should have an ability to look at a problem holistically and make common sense determinations and decisions on how to proceed.

EDUCATION
REQUIRED:
- Highschool diploma or equivalent
PREFERRED:
- BA/BS or equivalent degree and 5+ years of WordPress development with demonstrated formal team-lead or people-management experience.
SKILLS
REQUIRED:
- 4+ years of professional custom WordPress development experience without relying on page builders.
- One or more years of experience leading, mentoring, or coordinating other developers.
- Proficiency in custom Gutenberg block creation, PHP, JavaScript, HTML/CSS, and Git version-control workflows.
- Proven ability to conduct code reviews to maintain high site performance and code quality standards.
- Excellent written and spoken English skills to lead meetings and communicate complex technical concepts clearly.
- Strong leadership qualities with a focus on accountability, collaboration, and attention to detail.

PREFERRED:
- Hands-on experience with Tailwind CSS, HubSpot, Google Analytics/Tag Manager, and site performance optimization.
- Strong technical planning skills with the ability to translate business requirements into actionable architecture.
- Proven background in coaching, conflict resolution, giving direct feedback, and team development.
