Miles IT Culture: Keeping the Passion and Fire Alive

In July, the Philadelphia Business Journal posted their 2023 Best Places to Work as voted by employees.

For the 10th year in a row, Miles IT topped the list of honorees, and for good reason. In the decades since we first opened our doors, our culture has expanded to reach a wider breadth of potential employees.

This year our company goal has been “Always Moving Forward.” This means our employees are encouraged to expand not only their knowledge and skills but to use that motivation to expand our company as well.

After all, Miles IT is nothing without the creative individuals who keep our company going daily, from project to project.

Creating a Company Without Borders

Since 2020, Miles IT has been working hard to continuously expand our reach beyond the confines of physicality. By becoming a remote company, we have been able to serve clients and hire employees worldwide. No longer are we limited in scope by physical boundaries.

The world is our oyster thanks to expanding technology.

For a technology company specializing in IT and Software services, Consulting, and Marketing, including remote capabilities in how we do business has simply pushed us to be the best company we can be.

We include them in “Belief of the Week” posts on our companywide message board, Buzz. These weekly beliefs are mentioned at the start of every group meeting, and employees are given a chance to discuss how the belief helped them recently should they desire.

Staying Connected in a Wider World

The culture of Miles IT is also that of inclusivity. We have always believed that each person is unique and special; therefore, their needs will be unique and special.

We work hard to ensure all our employees feel part of something, even if we don’t meet in person often anymore. Our teams all have their forms of fun, relationship-building activities on the regular – such as virtual game lunch hours, team-building exercises, etc.

The company works hard to build bonds between employees by having monthly Coffee with Coworkers meetings where we all meet online, drink our respective morning drinks, and do a few icebreaker activities for about fifteen minutes before getting on with our days.

As the world around us evolves and changes, Miles IT’s strive to accomplish this has only increased. Our company has people from all walks of life, and we treasure each individual’s experiences and culture as part of the puzzle that makes us whole.

Our desire to be inclusive and connected has encouraged us to create a Culture Club that works hard to recognize all major holidays and celebrations worldwide and honor the different types of awarenesses out there, whether they be health or human-related.

Our Culture Club is the organizer behind many virtual and in-person get-togethers, such as our yearly Chili Cook-Off, Halloween Costume Contest, Ugly Sweater Contest, Beer Swap, and more.

In-Person Benefits

If you are one of the lucky few who live within the Lumberton, NJ area and can go to the brick-and-mortar office building, you are in for a treat there.

Our goal as a company is to ensure everyone feels respected, appreciated, and loved for what they bring to the table creatively and professionally. We are a bunch of dreamers and innovators – our office building reflects that.

Our employees who are in the office are given the opportunity to build their desks their way using large colorful linking blocks. This way, their workspace is uniquely their own and a place to encourage their minds to go beyond the simple and mundane to create the extraordinary.

Miles IT also encourages a laid-back work environment that provides equal opportunity for play and work. We offer exercise and sports perks so that our employees never feel overworked.

There are also meal options so coworkers can sit down and enjoy a conversation over a nice balanced lunch provided entirely by Miles IT.
